I’m tempted go in and order copies of books I already own to ensure that Helen, Kathleen, Abigail, Julie et al. receive their Public Lending Right payments. I wonder whether some of these TQ+ books could get reshelved among - or behind - Lonely Planet guide books to Mongolia or anthologies like Stick Insects I Have Known?
I think the local librarians are unaware or frustrated, and that this is being pushed from the centre. CILIP has been captured for some time now, and local librarians have very little say in what lands on their shelves.
But you're absolutely right - it's extremely worrying. As a parent, you should be able to let your children browse the children's section of your local library without being concerned that they will be exposed to harmful dogma. That hasn't been the case for some years.
