It's incredibly naive to assume that no book targeting children could make them believe nonsense that is not true or could encourage them into risky behaviours.
Thanks we set up Protect & Teach to look at school curriculum and the books came to our attention very early on. Highly sexulised, but childish language like 'poop' when talking abvout anal sex. We had parents of an 11 yr old who chose This Book is Gay from a school library selection for pride week. School thought it was OK, head of safeguarding read it and found nothing wrong. The lirary has junior school children choosing a book once a week as part of their preparation to join the following year
I’m also interested to know who is recommending these books as appropriate for school libraries and who is paying for them. There are so many children’s books available now, and yet the same books are stocked in different libraries suggesting they are not selected locally

Another very good well researched blog. Libraries and more broadly, publishers, are responsible for what is printed and presented to children.
